Evelio Villarreal is currently in his third year as Director of Bands at Plano East. Prior to his appointment as Director of Bands, he served as an Associate Director and Marching Band Coordinator at Plano East for nine years. Previously, Mr. Villarreal taught at Duncanville High School for seven years and has been a band director in the Austin and San Angelo Independent School Districts . He was formerly on the percussion staff of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from Rockford , IL .
His responsibilities at Plano East include conducting the Wind Ensemble, team teaching the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Marching Band and serving as Cluster Leader for the Plano East Cluster Band Program. Bands under his direction have consistently been awarded the “Sweepstakes Award” for Superior Ratings in University Interscholastic League Marching, Concert and Sight Reading contests and been named “Best In Class” at the Southcoast Music Festival, Galveston Music Festival, Morton H. Meyerson Concert Band Festival and American Classic Festival in Breckenridge, Colorado and Winter Park Colorado Concert Band Festival . Percussion ensembles under his direction have performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention and the National Percussion Festival.
Mr. Villarreal is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity , Percussive Arts Society and Phi Beta Mu, International Band Fraternity. In 2000, he was selected for induction into the American School Band Directors Association, which honors outstanding band directors in the United States . He is currently serving on the State Board of the Texas Music Educators Association as President of Region XXIV, UIL Region 24 Music Advisory Committee and the Committee on Standards of Adjudication and Performance Practices for the Texas Music Adjudicators Association. Selected again this year, Mr. Villarreal is a multi-year honoree of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers maintains an active schedule as a clinician, arranger and adjudicator. He is an educational artist/endorser for Innovative Percussion, Incorporated and is a contributing author of Essential Musicianship for Band, published by the Hal Leonard Corporation.

Jana Harvey is currently in her third year as Associate Director of Bands at Plano East Senior High. Prior to her appointment at Plano East, she served as the Director of Bands at Clark High School . Additionally, Ms. Harvey has served as Associate Director of Bands at Hendrick Middle School and Clark High School .
Her responsibilities at Plano East include conducting the Symphonic Band, team teaching the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Marching Band and assisting in every aspect of the band program at Plano East. Ms. Harvey is a product of the Plano Independent School District . She was a clarinet player in the carpenter, Clark, and Plano East Bands. Ms. Harvey also served as Drum Major of both the Clark Marching Band and the Plano East Marching Band.After high school, she attended Texas Tech University where she was a clarinet player in the Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Basketball Band, and various small chamber ensembles.
She holds the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Texas Tech University and is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education degree.
During her tenure at Clark High School , the Honors Band has received consistent Sweepstakes Award in University Interscholastic League competition for Division One, Superior Ratings in Marching, Concert Performance and Sightreading. In addition, the Clark Honors Band has been awarded Best In Class or Best in Contest at every festival in which they have performed. In 2004, Ms. Harvey was named as Clark High School ’s “Teacher of the Year” and honored by the PTA with the life membership award. This year, Ms. Harvey was selected for induction into the American School Band Directors Association, which honors outstanding band directors in the United States . Her professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmaster Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association and Tau Beta Sigma. Ms. Harvey maintains an active schedule as a clinician and adjudicator. |
John Brennan is in his sixth year as Associate Director at Plano East Senior High. Prior to his appointment to the band staff at Plano East, Mr. Brennan was the percussion specialist for the Plano East Cluster schools for the three years.
His responsibilities at Plano East include conducting the Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band and team teaching the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Marching Band and assisting in every aspect of the band program at Plano East. Mr. Brennan consults and writes for both the Clark High School and Williams High School drumlines in addition to writing for the award-winning Plano East Panther Regiment Drumline. In addition, he writes marching percussion arrangements for many top high schools throughout the United States .
Mr. Brennan is the executive director and arranger of Metro Alliance Percussion. This is an indoor youth performing ensemble based in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. His drum corps experience is exclusive to the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from Rosemont , Illinois where he marched in the bass drum and tenor lines from 1992 to 1995. This is Mr. Brennan’s ninth year on the Cavalier’s percussion staff. A published author, he has written several articles for Percussive Notes magazine on marching percussion. Mr. Brennan is an educational artist/endorser for the Yamaha Corporation of America, The Avedis Zildjian Company, Remo USA, and Innovative Percussion, Incorporated.
He holds the Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches , Louisiana where he studied percussion extensively with Mr. Kenneth Green. He is an active clinician, adjudicator, and performer throughout the United States and holds professional memberships in the Texas Music Educators Association, Percussive Arts Society and Phi Mu Alpha. |
